Congratulations to our families whose students are graduating this spring! Read more about how your student and family can prepare for Spring 2023 Commencement.

Ceremony Overview

The ceremony for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Law Degree candidates will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at noon at Camp Randall Stadium.

There is no ticketing for attendance and seating is general admission, first come, first served. All guests, family members and friends are welcome to attend! Guests and graduates in need of accommodations can read more about Camp Randall accessibility here. If you have additional questions, please email accessibility@chancellor.wisc.edu.

Gates open at 10:00 a.m. and the ceremony typically lasts approximately 90 minutes. A livestream of the ceremony will be available here on YouTube.

Additional celebration events occur throughout the weekend. More information will be available online this spring.

Graduate Checklist

All students who intend to complete a degree or participate in a ceremony this spring must complete the graduate checklist, which includes important tasks such as applying to graduate and reserving their cap and gown.

Students must apply to graduate in their Student Center to attend the ceremony and receive their diploma. All graduates must complete their applications by Friday, March 31, to have their names printed in the commencement program.

Graduates must wear a cap and gown to participate in the ceremony and can place their order through the University Book Store to ensure their academic regalia reflects their intended degree. Students may also request a scholarship to cover the cost of commencement attire due to financial hardship by filling out this form.

Additional Details

Degree candidates will be recognized en masse by each school and college. The graduate entrance is located at Gate 5 (the student gate for football games) of Camp Randall Stadium. This is the only gate with access to candidate seating. Guests can enter the stadium through Gates 1, 7, 8, and 9. A graduate seating map will be posted on the commencement website closer to date.

Please review the carry-in policy to learn more about permitted and prohibited items. Please note that the clear bag policy does not apply on the day of commencement.

We will continue to send emails to graduating families in the coming months. You can also sign-up for ceremony updates here or reach out with any questions. We look forward to celebrating with you!
