In response to the extreme cold, UW–Madison is canceling classes, events and campus activities beginning at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 through noon Thursday, Jan. 31.
We recognize that winter in Wisconsin can bring extreme conditions and we share your concern for student safety. There are a number of factors we consider when making the decision to close, including campus wind chill warnings and bus operations.
During this period, only essential campus services will be operating. University Housing will remain open and University Dining will remain open with limited hours. More details will be shared at alerts.wisc.edu.
We appreciate your help encouraging your students to take extra measures to stay safe. Please share these safety tips from University Health Services with your students.
As always, thank you for your partnership and let us know if you have any questions.
Warm regards,
Stephanie, Monica and the Parent and Family Program team
