To better cope with emergency situations on campus, UW–Madison’s emergency notification system recently received an upgrade and a new name, WiscAlerts. The system uses distinct mass e-mail, voice mail, and Reverse 911 systems to alert campus of important information.

The newest aspect of the system is a text messaging service for students, faculty and staff, launched May 1. More information on signing up is available through the My UW Portal.

The system is open to students, faculty, and staff in Madison. Parents will continue to receive Parent Notices through the Parent Program.
