A Note from the Parent Program Staff
The past eight months have been very exciting for the Parent Program! We have sent three newsletters and responded to more than 1,000 parent inquiries. As the program continues to evolve, we wanted to share with you some of our upcoming enhancements.
- New parent calendar will be sent to all parents and families on our mailing list in June 2008. It will include important dates, deadlines, and resources to keep you connected to campus throughout the academic year.
- Planning for a “Family Weekend” is under way. First Year Parents’ Weekend, coordinated by the Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA), will remain a signature event in the fall. To build on its success, we are working with WAA as well as other campus and community partners to plan “Family Weekend,” tentatively scheduled for spring 2009. For information about things to see and do on campus and in the community whenever you visit your student, check out our Web site.
- We continue developing our Web site. News and events information is being updated more frequently, so check the site often for the latest information. In the coming months, we will add more information regarding career development. We also plan to incorporate interactive components, including a calendar and an online database of resources.
- Tell us your story! In future newsletters, we would like to include testimonials from parents and families. Please call or e-mail us if you have a success story to share or if you are willing to be contacted by the Parent Program periodically.
