Spring Commencement
Commencement offers the chance to celebrate all that your student has accomplished during his or her college years.
For the first time in many years, UW–Madison’s spring commencement ceremony returns to Camp Randall Stadium. Instead of multiple ceremonies at the Kohl Center, all bachelor’s and most master’s degree candidates will attend a single ceremony at Camp Randall on Saturday, May 17. (A night ceremony for doctoral and professional students will be held on May 16.)
Following several years of discussions, the senior class officers partnered with Chancellor Rebecca Blank to create an opportunity that brings the entire senior class together one final time.
“This change will help us celebrate together on a grander scale, while still involving the more personal elements that students look forward to throughout their time at UW–Madison,” says Chancellor Blank. “I'm excited to partner with students to provide an experience that is meaningful for everyone who attends.”
“Sitting alongside your entire graduating class will be a really powerful experience,” adds Joe Meeker, senior class president. “Regardless of your major, school, or college, commencement is an opportunity to think about the time we've shared with all our fellow Badgers, and there's no better place to reflect on that than inside Camp Randall.”
The university has rolled out a revamped website to help graduates and guests navigate the weekend’s events. Look there for more details, including the weather policy for the outdoor venue. The website will be updated throughout the spring semester to provide details on shuttle and parking information, accommodations for graduates and guests with disabilities, and more.
