Send a Smile
Nothing puts a smile on your student’s face more than receiving a small token that shows you are thinking about him or her. The Parent Program provides easy tips and ways for you to “Send a Smile” to your student.
The Parent Program, in partnership with Madison Fresh Market, has developed fresh food care packages that you can have shipped to your student’s door. You may also order care packages, birthday cakes, exam treats, and gift cards from University Housing. Many other options — from a Wisconsin Union gift card to our free e-postcards — are also available at the Send a Smile web page.
Recently, Badger parents shared what they’ve sent their students on our Facebook group. Some suggestions include:
- Homemade food items, like chocolate chip cookies
- Gift cards to businesses within walking distance of campus
- Nerf toys (a good way to relieve stress)
- Fun fall items, such as candy corn and pumpkin bread
- Seasonal decorations
Keep in mind that students always appreciate receiving pieces of mail from home. Your student may enjoy seeing a local newspaper clipping that features an activity, sport, or club that your student was involved with in high school.
