Recent Rankings

UW–Madison appears prominently in a number of recent college rankings. Our students, faculty, and staff enhance the UW, making it a great place to live and learn.

Holding steady in the latest ranking of 270 national doctoral universities released by U.S. News & World Report, UW–Madison again tied for 41st overall. The UW tied for 11th among public institutions in rankings published in the 2014 edition of Best Colleges.

For the third year in a row, UW–Madison was ranked 19th among world universities in the annual Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) by Shanghai’s Jiao Tong University.

UW–Madison makes top universities lists, including the Center for World University Rankings survey, “Fiske Guide to Colleges,” and Livability.com’s top college towns. Other rankings put Madison among the “Smartest Cities in America” and the UW among the best universities in the country.

UW–Madison is again being recognized as one of the world's top learning institutions, placing 30th in the Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings.
