Chancellor Search is Under Way

A 25-member committee has formally begun the search for an individual to succeed Interim UW–Madison Chancellor David Ward.

“We need someone who recognizes the excellence of this institution, the strength of its reputation and unique culture,” says David McDonald, a UW history professor named to chair the committee, which includes representatives of faculty, staff, students, and the community.

Applications for the position are due Dec. 21. The committee intends to identify at least five qualified candidates in February 2013; the list of finalists will then be presented to UW System President Kevin Reilly and a committee of the UW Board of Regents. In April, the full board is expected to name a successor who would begin the position on July 1.
